Mar 24, 2015

IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) have just started a new project in East Africa with the goal of improving income and livelihoods in rural communities through the development of market-oriented organic production.

The project aims to increase awareness and demand for organic produce in the region, helping local growers to supply local and export markets. There is also policy development at East African government level, promoting and supporting organic agriculture. Developing of organic agriculture networks in the region being another objective in partnership with other African partner organisations. Furthermore, the project will collect and distribute data on the advantages of organic agriculture, with the aim of providing solutions to the challenges and needs of East Africa.
