Just Growth Programme Manager
Part-time (3 days a week)
Fixed Term (June 2015 – December 2016)
£34,000 pro rata per annum
Just Growth are seeking a skilled and experienced Programme Manager who will enjoy the challenges and opportunities of setting up and running a pilot project, Just Growth, and is committed to supporting the development of new and innovative approaches to community finance for “real farming”. The project is part of Funding Enlightened Agriculture (FEA) which was launched in 2012 at the Oxford Real Farming Conference (also a project of The Real Farming Trust). Read on:
“Just Growth involves a three-pronged approach to funding: a combination of one-third grant finance, one-third loan finance and one-third community financed, with business support also provided. The grants will be provided by The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, and the loans by our partners, Cooperative and Community Finance. The pilot project will fund 6-8 enterprises each to a maximum of £60,000 (grant, loan and community finance); and give diagnostic support to up to 14 enterprises.
We are looking to support small to medium-sized businesses, conceived as social enterprises, including organic market gardens, community growing initiatives, community supported agriculture and community owned farms, small mixed farms, micro-dairies, village bakeries, charcuteries, and micro-breweries; or local shops/restaurants that specialise in local food, or supply local food to schools and hospitals. Their legal structure must be inclusive and not-for-profit — ideally that of a Cooperative or Community Benefit Society.
The Real Farming Trust is a lean but very energetic and focused organisation. So we need people who enjoy independence and taking the initiative (as opposed to the security of a larger more established organisation). If that’s you — then why not apply?”
Closing date for applications: May 4 2015
Interview date: Thursday May 14 (Oxford)
