WWOOF UK joins the response to GM trials

Jan 8, 2017

WWOOF UK has joined a coalition of 30 organisations objecting to the application for an open air GM wheat trial at Rothamsted in the UK.

Campaigning organisation GM Freeze has rallied against latest applications to test GM organisms in the UK by formulating a detailed response to GM trial applications in the UK. They have formed an umbrella coalition which sees WWOOF UK standing alongside the Soil Association, Garden Organic, the Organic Growers Alliance, Biodynamic Association, Shepton Farm, Whole Organic Plus, SE Essex Organic Gardeners, The Kindling Trust, Unicorn Grocery, the Real Bread Campaign, Loopy Food, Greenaissance, the Kitchen, Friends of the Earth (England, Wales and Northern Ireland), Friends of the Earth Cymru, West Dorset Friends of the Earth, Cardiff Friends of the Earth, Sevenoaks Friends of the Earth, South Gloucestershire Friends of the Earth, Action Against Allergy, War on Want, Gaia Foundation, Find Your Feet, Mums Say No to GMOs, GM Free Dorset, Beyond GM, GM Watch, Gene Watch UK and EcoNexus – forming a multi-agency response to the GM trials application.

Action and campaigning is being carried out by GM Freeze and together we are requesting that the application from Rothamsted Research (to release a genetically modified organism, reference 16/R8/0) be refused.
