It was terrific to see one of our longstanding hosts, The Nursery in York, featured on the BBC’s Gardeners’ World last weekend for a full four minutes, as Jane Thurlow and Tony Chalcraft explained how they are self-sufficient in fruit and vegetables year round and try to eat seasonally.
The piece is still available on BBC iPlayer and you’ll find it here: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08ltkvs/gardeners-world-2017-episode-5

Presenter Monty Don said ‘What I love about that garden is that it’s such a good example of how you can grow a wide range of fruit in a relatively small space; you don’t need a great orchard full of vast trees’
Jane is a Regional Host Contact (RHC) for the North East and Tony is a director and the current Chair of WWOOF UK. What WE liked was the subtle promotional activity Tony undertook by wearing his WWOOF UK t-shirt for the item.
The Nursery is an unusual host, being based on the edge of a major city, and Jane and Tony have a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with their WWOOFers.
