Comments & Reviews Policy

Nov 23, 2017

Comments and reviews are welcomed and encouraged – it’s main way we can keep our WWOOFing standards high and give everyone the best chance of enjoying visits. Consider this an opportunity to tell fellow members about your experience, helping them determine if this particular exchange would be right for them.

If you wish to post a negative review please do so in a respectful manner, providing constructive feedback to give the member an opportunity to learn, adapt, and improve, in order to enhance their future WWOOFing experiences.

Be courteous, civil and respectful of others at all times

Please do not use profanity or create racial, ethnic, gender based, or discriminatory insults or hurtful remarks.  Do not make personal attacks on other users or staff members either in public forums or private messages.

If you wish to report a  concern please use the on-line form Problems or Concerns to tell the Administrator. The origin of these reports remain confidential.

Comment moderation

In order to maintain the integrity of WWOOF, reviews posted are moderated by the Coordinator and can also be moderated by other members as they can be reported to the Coordinator through use of the button found on each comment: “Flag as Offensive”.  Members receive notice when reviews are left on their profile, and therefore can self-moderate and report to the Coordinator if necessary.

Language and format

WWOOF has a diverse audience with different sensibilities and opinions. That said; please avoid harsh language and the use of profanity. Flaming or use of threatening language is not allowed nor will it be tolerated. If an entry gets you fired up, excited, or makes you think so deeply that the words pour from you like an overflowing fountain, consider posting a reply to the comment. Use of paragraphs and whitespace makes the content easier to read on a computer screen.

Editing comments

WWOOF [wwoof:country] reserves the right to edit or remove any content found in reviews on member’s profiles that we deem inappropriate with or without forewarning. We reserve the right to ban any member who violates our guidelines or disrupts our community. We will be fair and provide warning in most cases. Violation of any of these rules will result in consequences determined on a case-by-case basis.

Final words

You, and only you, are responsible for your words. They are yours and you get to keep them but by posting your comments, you are granting WWOOF [wwoof:country] the right, in perpetuity, to use, alter, and/or display them however we see fit. Once your comment is submitted, that’s it — you’re immortalized.

From time to time this Reviews Policy may be updated, so check back in if you want to be 100% current.

BOO! And other lessons on the unexpected

By Julia Taliesin “So, what made you decide to do this?” Is a common question I get when I tell people about WWOOFing (and something I ask my fellow WWOOFers). For me, it was a breakup and job loss that happened one after the other almost a year ago. Talk about a jump...
