The RSA Field Guide for the Future.

Aug 13, 2019

The Field Guide for the Future is a downloadable practical guide, with interviews and stories from the RSA Food, Farming and Countryside Commission’s work across the UK, including findings from their devolved and locally led inquires in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Devon, Cumbria and Lincolnshire.

The 54 page guide is brimming full of information and will give the reader a strong sense of what the food producers in the UK are encountering on a day-to-day basis and some of the opportunities that exist for taking part in or getting help with many different aspects of food production.

The case studies of good practice and stories of change within the field guide were actually gleaned by a team of enthusiastic researchers who headed out into the countryside, from many UK locations, on bicycles!!

They were aware of the many of the issues facing food producers today and approached the research with sensitivity, giving them the chance to express what they feel can be done to make things better.

With space to make your own notes and a discussion kit, the guide includes interviews and stories on:

  • Building health into farm businesses
  • Breaking down the stigma around mental health
  • Better public procurement
  • Carbon neutral farming
  • Peatland restoration
