Future Food and Farming Youth Video Awards

Aug 15, 2019

Do you want to make a short video on producing and consuming good food?

This is a Video Award for youth [of 18 to 30 years old] across Europe on campaigning for sustainable food production and consumption.

The Future Food and Farming Youth Video Awards are run by the YOOF – Youth, Multimedia and Food Project.

Think about any of these themes, or more for the subject of your video:

  • Ways of producing, preparing and consuming food that is climate-friendly, healthy and fair.
  • Lifestyles and livelihoods of sustainable food producers.
  • The opportunities for youth to produce sustainable food – through volunteering, starting or joining a small cooperative enterprise, having access to land and other resources, and to consume sustainable food.
  • The challenges for youth in producing and consuming food that is climate-friendly, healthy and fair.

The Youth, Multimedia and Food (YOOF) project is aimed at 18-30 year olds who are not in employment, education or training in the two partner countries [UK and Spain] who have a practical interest in expressing their views and concerns about rural sustainable lifestyles, livelihoods and issues, and want to improve their media and digital skills. It will enable them to learn about and develop media, digital and e-marketing skills in order to present their views and entrepreneurship in relation to rural sustainable lifestyles, livelihoods and issues, especially food production and consumption.

The main result is an interactive open educational resource website. It includes three short downloadable illustrated guides on media production outdoors, food production and responsible entrepreneurship. It also includes details and results of an international media award scheme as well as profiles of young media producers, presenters and entrepreneurs, with examples of their films, podcasts, blogs, e-marketing and journalistic articles.

Advise and guidance is available on the yoofproject.org website. The  guides give some tips for making short videos using smartphone cameras, lapel mics, editing and uploading to Youtube. They also cover some principles and techniques of sustainable food production as well as the development of cooperative social enterprises.

Application deadline: Wednesday 28th August 2019

YOOF is run jointly by SustED and WWOOF Spain with collaboration from the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, through its Digital Media Design Department.
