What’s new with WWOOF? – Beltane 23

Apr 18, 2023

It’s now easy to donate to WWOOF UK

All donations are gratefully received whether it is enough to fund a leaflet, a bursary, an event, or even a staff member. If you’d like to make a donation now or set up a monthly donation then please use one of the buttons below.

The ‘More donation options’ button will take you to a page with monthly donation amounts from £1 upwards and guidance about leaving a legacy to WWOOF UK in your will.

Advertising you on social media

It’s always a buzz when I see photos and videos on social media from WWOOFers and hosts using the #wwoofuk hashtag. Please keep it up! Or, if you feel that posting on Facebook or Instagram etc doesn’t go with connecting with Nature and getting your hands in the soil, then please feel free to write a story for our newsletter when you get back home. Either way, by sharing your experiences with us, you’re helping us inspire others to follow in your adventurous footsteps.

Following @wwoofuk on social media and commenting on our posts is a great way to engage with us. This helps us to hear the heartbeat of the WWOOF UK community.

Rebel Farmer – a host we advertised on social media

Occasionally I hear from a host, via a message on social media, that they’re not getting many WWOOFers contacting them lately. In this instance I promptly have a look at the host profile and get to work producing posts to share on the main platforms we have a presence. This does get results and so message me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram if you need a little help. If you don’t use social media just email me here and look out for the WWOOFer enquiries!

Host and WWOOFer communications

It’s time for your quarterly reminder to please swap phone numbers with your WWOOFers once you’ve accepted them. Often hosts get in touch with us as their WWOOFer hasn’t arrived on time, or they haven’t heard from their WWOOFers and are worried. Please note, we are not able to pass on contact details of members to anyone. Please give your host or your WWOOFer your phone number so you can get hold of each other in these instances.

Website update – response rate and time

There is a new addition to your profile! Response rate and time lets WWOOFers know how long it may take a host to respond. You can read more about how it’s calculated here.

BOO! And other lessons on the unexpected

BOO! And other lessons on the unexpected

By Julia Taliesin “So, what made you decide to do this?” Is a common question I get when I tell people about WWOOFing (and something I ask my fellow WWOOFers). For me, it was a breakup and job loss that happened one after the other almost a year ago. Talk about a jump...
