WWOOF UK members’ gathering and AGM 2023 – Windmill Hill City Farm, Bristol

Sep 26, 2023

For our AGM and members’ gathering this year we have chosen to hold the event in Bristol in the west of England. We’d love you to join us there on Saturday 28th October at Windmill Hill City FarmBedminster, Bristol from 11am – 4.30pm.

We alternate the location of the AGM each year in an effort to include WWOOFers in that surrounding area and local hosts who can’t get away from their land to travel long distances for a day event further afield.

Windmill Hill City Farm is a 4.5 acre green space and community hub situated 20 minutes walk from the centre of Bristol. It is home to a farm, gardens, cafe and farm shop. The farm provides an excellent opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about farming and sustainable food production. What a perfect setting for our AGM!

We’ll be accompanying the business of the AGM with our guest speaker Andrea Gibbons, who is the network coordinator for Sustainable Food Places, and brings years of grassroots network building and community development experience in US and UK environmental and social justice movements.  We are very pleased she is able to attend!

There’ll also be a WWOOF question & answer panel, and the chance to have an informal tour of Windmill Hill City Farm. Plus the perennial Swaps Table will be in attendance, so please bring along something WWOOFy that will bring a smile to the face of a fellow attendee – saved seeds, a book, produce, gardening gloves – you get the picture.

The Members’ Gathering is always a valuable time for members to get together and talk over the pleasures and challenges of being part of WWOOF UK and the organic movement. There’ll be lots of time within the day to chat with friends old and new, over tea, coffee and lunch.

There will be a £10 charge for the day to include all refreshments and lunch; numbers will be limited, so please book soon.

BOO! And other lessons on the unexpected

By Julia Taliesin “So, what made you decide to do this?” Is a common question I get when I tell people about WWOOFing (and something I ask my fellow WWOOFers). For me, it was a breakup and job loss that happened one after the other almost a year ago. Talk about a jump...
