Head Grower vacancy – Black Isle Brewery, Scotland

We are looking for an experienced Head Grower to lead our sustainable growing operation. The candidate will be dedicated to agroecological principles and have a proven track record of running an organic production garden. This is a permanent position with the possibility of on-site accommodation.

Fundraising Manager (maternity cover)

We’re looking for a superstar fundraiser to join our dynamic, friendly staff team at the Ecological Land Cooperative.

The Fundraiser Manager is responsible for securing donations, grants and funds for all aspects of the work. including overseeing the role out of an individual giving scheme.  

22.5 hours per week. 12-month contract. £31,317 per annum pro rata.

Site Development Manager (maternity cover)

We’re looking for an ecologically minded Site Development Manager to oversee the development of our agroecological small-holding sites across England and Wales.

This includes working with outside contractors to develop site infrastructure such as barns and utilities; managing the work of individual site managers; supporting planning permission applications and ecological monitoring; and responding to enquiries around land donations.

15 hours per week. 9-month contract.  £31,317 per annum pro rata.

Practical Actions for Orchard Communities

Seasoned orchardist and author Wade Muggleton and a panel of England’s finest pomologists will present four sessions:

Wonderful Orchards – Nov 7 – orchard culture, heritage, and wildlife

Planning an Orchard – Nov 14 – planning and planting

Managing an Orchard – Nov 21 – ongoing management

The Orchard Harvest – Nov 28 – harvesting and processing your fruit

The sessions are primarily aimed at groups who manage or are planning a community orchard, but there’s plenty of useful content for everyone. Each session will last about an hour and a half, and include a Q&A with the panel, all for just £5 each. More info and to book your place click here.

Grower vacancy at Five Acre Farm

Five Acre Community Farm, a well-established CSA based outside of Coventry is looking for a full-time grower. We are seeking a grower with experience to join our team producing organic veg and fruit all year round for our community of 90 households.

The successful candidate will work alongside our farm manager and volunteers and will be expected to play a key role in crop production and farm upkeep. The role is 4.2 days average per week, annual salary starting at £20,620 pro rata with statutory holiday allowance and a pension offered.

Seasonal grower at East Neuk Market Garden

East Neuk Market Garden is looking to add an experienced grower to our team as we consolidate and refine our growing after our first five seasons at our farm in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. We are a community supported agriculture farm as well as selling veg directly to restaurants, cafes, shops and at the monthly Bowhouse market. We are a 4 acre farm using mostly no or minimal tillage methods, with 5 polytunnels and an establishing agroforestry system.

We are looking for someone with experience in production horticulture, be that as a student, trainee or employee, who can demonstrate strong familiarity with small scale vegetable production. Former WWOOF UK hosts having hosted WWOOFers in the early days of establishing the project.

Join the ELC as an Ecological Farmer

The Ecological Land Cooperative are looking for land workers to take on smallholding plots at our site in East Cornwall. Orchard Park is a former dairy pasture nestled just below Bodmin Moor, within easy reach of Callington and Liskeard.

The smallholding plots range from 3.7 to 10 acres and will come supplied with access, off-grid electricity, a communal barn and water supply. Orchard Park has already obtained temporary planning permission to live on site in a temporary dwelling.

Assistant grower opportunity at Tomnaha Market Garden, Crieff, Perthshire. Responsible for assisting in all aspects of vegetable production in the field, polytunnels, propagation and packing shed, working alongside other employees and volunteers.
