(Community Fringe Event Sustainable Fashion Week)

This meetup will be a friendly and supportive space for facilitating new connections between farmers and designers from South West England who are interested in creating fibres and fashion product from natural fibres and dyes sourced from the region. The aim is to foster collaborations that can help farmers diversify into fibre/fashion products and enable designers to work with regional resources.

Power of Food Festival is a 10-day festival across Tower Hamlets – celebrating the borough’s community and food cultures, and showcasing local projects building fairer, more sustainable food systems.
There will be inspiring, thought-provoking and delicious events including community meals, supper clubs, workshops, film screenings, photography exhibitions, kids’ activities, panel discussions, and tours of gardens and food-growing spaces, including a farm based in Sussex that grows food for the borough.

Vacancy at Rising Hope – near Sudbury, Suffolk
We are a small family-style community looking for a new member (single person or couple), with skills or enthusiasm for permaculture, hopefully some experience with horses, and a gentle way with WWOOFers!
We have a lovely space for a van, with (off grid) electricity, water and compost loo, in the meadow near the farmhouse on our 15 acre little wild farm. If you don’t have a van we might be able to help you find one!
We are Quaker Christians and it would be great if your spiritual journey aligned with ours, but as long as love and grace is important to you we’ll get along.

46th National Hedgelaying Championship – Buckinghamshire
Saturday 4th October 2025
Waddesdon Manor, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP18 0JH
9am – 4.30pm
Registrations are now open and hedgelayers across the country are filling out the entry form to compete in the most prestigious hedgelaying competition of the year, the National Championships.
It is free for any competent hedgelayer, who is a paid up member of the NHLS, to register to compete for one of the coveted trophies or prizes on offer.
The Nationals are a great day out in the country for all the family.
Ample free car parking and a £10 entry per person. Members of the hedgelaying society get in free, and it’s not too late to join! Become a member before the event (£25) and enjoy a year’s membership of the society and free entry to the Nationals. This way, you are also supporting the work of the society in promoting and maintaining the craft for future generations and for the benefit of the hedges and the environment.

The Marches Real Food and Farming Convergence – Monmouthshire

This year the Convergence will be moving to Monmouthshire. It was always the intention as a Marches event that we would move around the region. So after two successful events in Shropshire we’re moving south!

The Treescapes team at CCRI are currently in the process of collaborating with Defra and the Centre for Forest Protection in organising the conference. ‘Britain’s Forest Future: Research-Practice Exchange’ will be the most significant forest and woodland research, policy and practice knowledge-exchange event in 2025. The event will feature new research, thinking, policy and practice around resilient and biodiverse treescapes and be an opportunity for forest/woodland researchers, forestry/woodland practitioners and policy specialists to discuss the latest research and shape UK forestry agendas.

National Lottery offer funding from £300 to £20,000 and can support your project for up to two years.
You can apply for funding to deliver a new or existing activity or to support your organisation to change and adapt to new and future challenges.
We can fund projects that’ll do at least one of these things:
- bring people together to build strong relationships in and across communities
- improve the places and spaces that matter to communities
- help more people to reach their potential, by supporting them at the earliest possible stage
- support people, communities and organisations facing more demands and challenges because of the cost-of-living crisis.

Suitable for voluntary or community organisations. Funding size £300 to £20,000 for up to two years.

Grow Your Own CSA Online Training Course: September – December
Starts 30th September 2025
Each online session topic will last 90 minutes. There will be 12 sessions in total, running on Tuesdays between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The tutor on this three month course will be Tom O’Kane of Cae Tan CSA and the course is run by CSA Network UK.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a profitable, sociable, and sustainable way to link land and community. We would like to see CSA projects thrive across the UK.
The course runs from September to December, so growers who have finished the main season can complete this training in time to set up a CSA the following season! You may also want to take the course to help decide if CSA suits you.
Cost: £360 or £335 for members of CSA Network UK.

Join market-gardener, Peni, in this practical workshop exploring the science behind fermentation and how we can be more self-sufficient through preparing our own fermented foods. Using fresh produce, we will learn how to make sauerkraut, kimchi or a fermented beverage and understand what equipment is needed.
