We’re always keen to shine a light on the people and projects quietly making a different in their communities.
Across the WWOOF UK community, we see everyday how small acts of care and commitment can make a real difference. From our community members supporting local food projects or restoring habitats, positive change often starts quietly and locally.
That’s why we were pleased to hear that BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester has opened nominations for its Make a Difference Awards 2026, celebrating local individuals, groups and even animals who go the extra mile across the county.
The awards recognise those who are giving their time, energy and care to improve life where they live. Whether that’s through volunteering, environmental work, community support, fundraising or simply being a great neighbour.
There are eight categories this year:
- Active
- Animal
- Community Group
- Environmental
- Fundraiser
- Great Neighbour
- Volunteer
- Young Hero
If you know someone who embodies these values, perhaps a community grower, a conservation volunteer, a helpful neighbour, or even someone who has brought comfort or joy, this is a chance to say thank you in a meaningful way.
Nominations are open until 5pm on 31st March 2026, with a special celebration ceremony planne for September.

It’s always encouraging to see stories of kindness, environmental action and community spirit being recognised. If you’re based in Herefordshire or Worcestershire and someone springs to mind, why not put their name forward?
