WWOOF is 45!

Apr 10, 2016

Did you know …WWOOF will be 45 this year? On 15th October 2016 to be precise! We want to celebrate in style and make it a year to remember.

As well as the obligatory birthday party and cake (as part of our annual Members Weekend) we are planning a special interview with our founder Sue Coppard and current Co-ordinator, Scarlett Penn (who also happens to be 45 this year!), a new WWOOF film, 45 themed challenges …and much more.

For all of this we need your help, especially from those of you who have been with us for a long time. We want to capture the history, the values, the people and the passion that makes WWOOF what is today.

In particular we are looking for your WWOOF adventures, stories and photos; your reflections on 45 years of WWOOF – the original volunteer exchange organisation. Imagine you are writing a note inside a birthday card – what would you say?

Or perhaps you might feel inspired to grow, carve or cook something in the shape of a 45 for us?

We will use your offerings on our website and across social media – as well as creating a special autumn issue of the WWOOF UK newsletter.

So please get talking, reminiscing, sorting, writing, growing, cooking and share whatever you create with amanda@wwoof.org.uk by 31st July 2016 at the latest.

An opportunity to live in the Brecon Beacons Ten years ago I bought a dilapidated stone barn high on a hill in mid-Wales. I had been visiting the area for several years, staying in my campervan, walking and exploring. I started to look for somewhere to make a more...
